Kokle is an instrument that symbolizes Latvian soul and identity. 

Kokle's sound soothes and harmonizes. You can play various tunes, accompany songs and even use it in meditations. Even just playing it becomes a meditation.

I usually make Kurzeme’s  and Latgale’s  types of kokle – they are the two most popular types. You can place an order by specifying the shade, the drawing pattern, the number of strings, the type of pins, the tree species, etc., and I will make a kokle specially for you, taking in account your wishes.  

I like to experiment, and so far I have used the material of about 30 different tree species to make kokle, getting to know the sound and character of each tree. For a person who wants to find the kokle for him/her, I recommend to try several instruments to feel the best connection. I have found mine – it is made of ash wood.

Each kokle has a different character. When I put the strings, there are kokles that sound right away. There are kokles that only start to sound after some time. And I even have noticed that the sound changes depending on the player.
